Chester Restaurant Week is back this month. With our headquarters proudly in Chester, this week feels like a celebration of the city we call home and the incredible restaurant scene we are lucky to work alongside every day. It is a chance to explore, support local businesses and enjoy some good food along the way.
Presented by Walking Food Tours UK, Chester Restaurant Week runs from 16th to 22nd February and puts a spotlight on Chester’s amazing range of independent restaurants. With exclusive dishes, set menus and special offers throughout the week, it is perfect for a spontaneous lunch, a midweek treat or a relaxed date night. Whether you are discovering somewhere new or revisiting a favourite, there is something for everyone.
To celebrate the return of Chester Restaurant Week, we asked the Bookachef team to share their favourite restaurants, and it is fair to say that, with lots of choice, there is no shortage of great recommendations. Duncan chose Porta, a long standing favourite known for its welcoming atmosphere and delicious tapas. Favourite dish, Abanico Ibérico, seared pork (served pink) with mojo verde. Charlotte picked Upstairs on the Grill, a Chester classic and the go to spot for a really good steak, with her go-to dish being the classic ribeye steak served with black truffle mornay. Jason’s favourite is Brewski, loved for its bold flavours, relaxed vibe and indulgent comfort food. His go-to order being the beef shin and nduja burger, a double cheeseburge topped with slow cooked beef.
Sarah chose Artezzan, a place that stands out for its quality ingredients and attention to detail. Her recommendation being the vine tomato and chilli risotto. John went for Maray, a restaurant that offers something a little different for those who enjoy exploring new flavours and exciting dishes. His go-to dish being the crispy sea bass. Our new starter's favourite is The Venetian, an Italian restaurant with a great atmosphere and an impressive wine collection. With recommendations to the spaghetti prawns and squid ink pasta dish.
