A Letter From Your Head Chef (The letter your chef is desperate to send you… but scared to tell you.)

Dear Boss,

I’m writing this because I care about this kitchen, this team, and the reputation we’ve built. I love the pressure, the service, the pride in every plate, but December pushes even the best of us to breaking point.

You know what it’s like: prep lists double, covers explode, Christmas menus stack up, and suddenly burnout becomes “normal.” Shifts get longer. Breaks shrink. Days off disappear. And when we’re exhausted, quality, timing, and consistency drop, no matter how hard we push.

Even the strongest kitchen can’t run full throttle for a whole month without support.

And so I ask for help in hand

That’s why I’m asking for temporary chefs this December. Not just to fill gaps, but to protect the team you already have. Extra hands mean we stay sharp, stay safe, and keep standards exactly where you expect them.

When we bring in temporary chefs through Bookachef, we’re not lowering standards, we’re protecting them. Their chefs understand what it means to hit the ground running, adapt quickly, and support the team, not disrupt it.

They bring experience from dozens of kitchens, fresh energy, and the ability to take strain off the line during the busiest weeks of the year - and hiring them is cheaper than you think.

We can handle December. We always do. But we can’t do it alone.

Please give us the backup we genuinely need.

Respectfully,

Your Head Chef
